For this group project, I was responsible for the game environment. The brief was to come up with a concept for a small game, and then create the various assets, which the lecturer would then take and use to create the game. There were some constraints on what type of game we could come up with, due to the course being only two weeks long.
The goal of the game in this case was to rescue the villagers who were jumping into the magma. The different types of villagers behaved differently, starting with the regular villager, who you simply had to click on with the mouse and drag to a safe area. The heavies couldn’t be dragged, but could be nudged by the mouse towards safety. The witchdoctors explode on contact, and count as though they had hit the magma. With each unsuccessful rescue, the magma would rise, and the stone face would change at certain points to show increasing displeasure.
The villagers themselves were designed and created by Liam Summers, from HAM I AM Designs.
